Psychological First Aid Training: Strengthening Peer Mental Health Support at IBA
On August 11th and 12th, 2025, the Wellness Center successfully organized a two-day Psychological First Aid (PFA) Training under the Mental Health Ambassadors Program (MHAP). The interactive training was conducted by Prof. Dr. Qudsia Tariq, a Senior Clinical Psychologist and faculty member at the University of Karachi.
This experiential workshop was designed to equip participants with essential skills in:
- - Early identification of emotional distress
- - Providing empathetic, peer-level support
- - Managing crises effectively
- - Making timely and appropriate referrals to mental health services
Participants included applicants of the Mental Health Ambassadors Program, Buddies from SBS Buddy Program, and key staff working in health and wellness-related roles at IBA.
The PFA training marked a significant milestone in the Wellness Center's ongoing mission to foster a more compassionate, responsive, and well-prepared mental health ecosystem on campus. Attendees praised the training for its practical approach, expert facilitation, and immediate applicability, highlighting its value as both a personal and institutional investment in mental well-being.
