Depression

We all feel "under the weather" and experience sadness from time to time. Most of the time, this feeling sadness is perpetuated by an event and is usually transitory. When depression becomes severe and persistent, affectioning our functioning, thoughts and behaviors, it is advisable to seek professional help and see a Clinical Psychologist.

Signs of depression:

  • Feelings of sadness, emptiness, hopelessness
  • Loss of interest or pleasure in almost all activities
  • Significant changes in weight gain or loss
  • Disturbed sleep
  • Low mood
  • Fatigue and lethargy
  • Feelings of worthlessness and inadequacy
  • Difficulty concentrating or indecisiveness
  • Thoughts about hurting yourself (suicidal ideation)

Dealing with depression:

If you're experiencing depression because of a situation, most of the times, when that event is resolved you will feel better. However, if you're feeling persistently sad or gloomy, loss of interest or pleasure in almost all activities these feelings are affecting the way you function, think, and behave, please see a professional.
